Washington DC, Metropolitan Washington, United States
Is a group of people, young and old, who believe that our country can and must become a much better place for Americans of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, and personal preferences, with higher standards of economic and political justice, decent and affordable housing for all, health care accessible to all, an environment enjoyable and healthful for both people and animals, and free of chemical, industrial, and radioactive pollution, and who seek reduction of violence and crime by positive means such as full employment and aid to families.
Nationally, Maggie Kuhn was a driving force behind the founding of the Gray Panthers in 1970.
Our Metropolitan Washington network traces its roots to 1973, when Janet N. Newman brought together a few friends to organize the Gray Panthers in the area.
